Celebrity Announces Social Media Break Via Hourly Social Media Updates
A-list star commits to digital detox while providing comprehensive multi-platform documentation of the experience.
LOS ANGELES — Award-winning actress and social media influencer Aria Montgomery announced yesterday that she would be taking a "complete break from all social platforms" to focus on her mental health, a decision she has documented with 47 posts across six different social media platforms in the last 24 hours.
"I'm officially unplugging," Montgomery wrote in a 1,200-word Instagram post, accompanied by a professional photoshoot featuring the actress in meditation poses on a Malibu beach. "The constant pressure of social media is too much, and I need to reconnect with myself away from the digital world."
The announcement was simultaneously shared on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, and her personal newsletter, each with platform-specific content explaining her decision to disconnect. Her TikTok video, a three-minute explanation of "why I'm leaving social media" filmed from multiple angles with carefully selected background music, has already garnered 7.2 million views.
"It's so important to set boundaries with technology," Montgomery explained in a two-hour Instagram Live session discussing her digital detox plans. "That's why I'll only be posting essential updates about my social media break journey."
These essential updates have so far included six photos of Montgomery's "offline morning routine," a time-lapse video of her deleting social media apps (which were later reinstalled to post the video), and a series of screenshots showing supportive messages from other celebrities.
"Aria is really leading by example," said Montgomery's publicist, Vanessa Chen. "She's showing her followers that it's possible to completely disconnect from social media while still maintaining an engaging content schedule about that disconnection."
Montgomery has announced that her social media break will last "until I feel centered again," though her team has already scheduled 38 posts for the coming week, including a YouTube documentary series titled "My Social Media Detox Journey" and a podcast where she interviews other celebrities about their own digital breaks.
"The response to my disconnection has been overwhelming," Montgomery wrote in her most recent update, which included a swipe-up link to her new merchandise line featuring the slogan "Offline Is The New Luxury." "I'm so grateful I can share this private journey with my 47 million followers."
